Walk-A-Thons Raise Thousands for Three Elementary Schools

Fall means fundraisers for many of our elementary school buildings. Thanks to the teamwork of our parents and staff, ISD 728 parent groups raise thousands for such things as visiting authors, field trips and more.

Three ISD 728 schools held their walks recently - with Zimmerman's Westwood Elementary and Zimmerman Elementary holding their traditional joint walk, while Meadowvale's students had a perfect fall day to circle the field and forest by their building in Elk River.

Together, the two buildings in Zimmerman raised around $45,000 to be used this year by the parent groups. The picture perfect day included a walk from each campus to the Zimmerman High School stadium track, where there was some music, games and snacks. It also featured a visit with the Zimmerman Fire Department.

The Mustangs also had music, snacks and fun on hand for all students and staff who participated in the walk. Plus, the fall colors were starting to pop around the MES campus.

Special thanks to the staff, parent organizers, all families who donated time, talent and dollars to the event, and the students for making these events so much fun.
